Stand for the Rights of Pregnant Women

Michael,

I write not about myself but about my daughter. Amber had the greatest job in the world (in her eyes!). She drove a Budweiser truck for Fred Nesbit Distribution out of Des Moines, Iowa. She was as tough as the men and had no problem delivering what she called "the elixir of life" to all!

However, much to her surprise, one day she found herself pregnant and single... after much consultation with her doctor she talked with her supervisor and then continued with her job ever vigilant for signs of stress. In her sixth month, she began to have problems with the weight of the cases of "40's". At her doctors request she provided her supervisor with a note giving weight restrictions-the standard 20 lbs and the standard 40 hour work week.

Shocked she was told that she would NOT get help, she would NOT get light duty, and she would NOT be reassinged to another job! She was forced to take the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) and should she not return within the given time she would be fired. A very long story about the legal, personal and emotional problems continued over the next 3 and 1/2 years...

Her case is now about to be heard in the 8th District Court of Appeals in St. Loius, MO... December of this year. She has suffered many indignities to stand for the rights of pregnant women. This took a strong woman and I am very proud of what she has done.

Regardless of the outcome she just prays for her attorney and the rights of all women. Walker V Nesbit can be viewed on various web sites. Perhaps together we CAN all change the world!!!
