Angela Braly, it seems, is more powerful than Queen Elizabeth.
The CEO of WellPoint was ranked a lofty No. 16 in Forbes magazine's list of the world's most powerful women. "Underneath the friendly veneer is a hardheaded negotiator and workaholic who grew up professionally in the health-care-industrial complex and is not about to roll over for the likes of Michael Moore," the magazine says on its Web site.
In an indication of just what a big business health care has become in the United States, Braly ranks ahead of not only the queen (No. 23), but also Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (No. 20) and media executive and superstar Oprah Winfrey (No. 21).
Angela Merkel, chancellor of Germany, was No. 1.
