Movie director Michael Moore will host the first U.S. screening of his new film, "Capitalism: A Love Story," in Pittsburgh today.
The film will be shown in the Byham Theater, Downtown, to delegates and guests of the AFL-CIO convention, which opened Sunday and continues through Thursday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Moore will lead a march of labor union "leaders and delegates" from the convention center to the theater via Fort Duquesne Boulevard, according to a flier distributed yesterday at the convention. Several labor unions are sponsoring the event.
The film, billed as a documentary of the ravages of corporate profiteering, premiered last week in Venice. It is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on Oct. 2.
The Web site for the politically controversial director proclaims the movie his "most radical work." Moore's other films include "Fahrenheit 9/11," about the 2001 terrorist attacks, and "Sicko," about America's health care system.
