Well folks, if you were looking for a column this morning to read your morning coffee to, I apologize for my terrible lateness. See what I was doing, is I was on the way to the doctor. When out of nowhere this machine with a long hose on the end of it took all the money out of my wallet. Yeah, I didn’t expect it to happen either. But apparently for me to get to the Philadelphia VA Hospital I need this stuff called gasoline. And I must have been living under a rock because it got really expensive. As I very slowly and carefully filled my tank up, I got the feeling like I was being mugged. But the people doing the mugging were off in some big office building and the contraption with the big hose was just their muscle. These oil company guys sure are making a whole sack full of money aren’t they. You know the deal, charge people four bucks a gallon for gas so they can get the extra scratch to buy a Chevy Volt.
But for those of you all over the United States, you are definitely feeling the pinch. It’s costing more to go anywhere now than it has ever been. And I do not want to hear one word from the readers in Europe about how gas has been this expensive over there for years. You guys got trains that take you from the front door to your damn mailbox. So you aren’t allowed to gripe. It’s our turn. I especially feel sorry for those poor folks that bought motor homes thinking it would be a great way to spend a vacation. Now they have to sell their real homes to pay for the gas to run their timeshare on wheels. But it doesn’t look like the gas is going to go down anytime soon, not unless the government steps in and tells the oil companies to knock it the hell off. Or release some of that oil they are keeping in storage in case of nuclear attack or something. When we all know there’s enough oil in those things to power every car in the country for twenty years. It’s not just the spinsters with a thousand chickens in their basements that are hoarding anymore. Our country is hoarding oil, and it won’t let us have any. By that margin, it gives the oil companies all the power in the world to make us pay through the nose.
But if you live in the Philadelphia area, expect to pay an absolute minimum of$3.89 a gallon. But you’re going to have to go to Second Street for that. All throughout the city it’s around $3.99 a gallon. You know, so they can mentally trick us by saying at least it’s not four dollars. But if you end up near the Lukoil on Delaware Avenue, you might want to sell a kidney. Four Dollars and Thirty Three Cents for one gallon. Just one. Barely enough to fill up a milk jug. So before you venture out on your daily errands, check out sites like gaspricewatch.com and gasbuddy.com to see where you can find your cheapest gas prices. At least this way you can research exactly who is going to mug you. For the rest of you, what’s the gas prices like in your city?
