I don’t write a column every day. There’s a reason for that. I like to provide you with nothing but the finest in news, opinions, information, and occasional light entertainment. To provide you with all of that at once today; I’m just going to rapid fire a whole bunch of stuff at you at one time. So sit back, this one’s going to be interesting.
So, our ol’ buddy Charlie Sheen finally got fired by CBS. Good. Seems to be the guy will never learn. Like I said in a previous column, this guy should be labeled with an untouchable sticker by all of Hollywood. Sure he is probably going to be making a fortune from the remaining time on his “Two and a Half Men” contract. But just for being a danger to himself and others, they shouldn’t give this guy any more work. Usually it takes people being flat broke to clean their act up. Let’s all pray Charlie Sheen spends his money quickly.
Next to the crisis in Libya. The United States should not get involved. Why is that you ask? Well, lately we don’t seem to have a good track record when it comes to “liberating” other nations. What was supposed to be a quickie six week invasion into Iraq in 2003 has turned into a several year long mess that we aren’t going to get out of anytime soon. No matter what Obama or the military says, we are not going to be out of there next year. We got the military stretched too damn thin to begin with; let’s not make it even worse by sending American troops into Tripoli to toss Gadhafi into a burlap sack. All the other protesting countries in that part of the world managed to work stuff out on their own. All the killing in Libya proves is that the United Nations doesn’t have the guts to say anything about it to Gadhafi directly. How can we reasonably tell our kids that bullying is wrong and then allow this crazy person to go out and do this. It doesn’t take all that long to draft up a resolution. Hell, it will probably take less time for Microsoft to code Windows 8 than it will for the UN to come up with what they want to do in Libya. It doesn’t take a genius to see what needs to be done. But it shouldn’t have to rest solely on the United States. We’re in enough messes already.
