A former U.S. Marine Corps recruiter admitted Monday to having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female Olympus High School student.
Trevor Adam Hooper, 27, was charged in 3rd District Court with 14 felonies, including first-degree felony counts of rape and forcible sodomy, which are punishable by up to life in prison.
On Monday, Hooper pleaded guilty to two lesser counts of forcible sexual abuse and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor. Each count is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 11 before Judge Randall Skanchy.
Hooper, a veteran who served in Iraq and who lives in Clearfield, met the girl while recruiting at Olympus High, one of four high schools where he was assigned, according to a Salt Lake County sheriff's spokesman.
During April, Hooper took the girl to a motel, where he videotaped and photographed their sexual activity, according to charging documents.
An investigation began in May when the girl's father caught her sneaking back home early one morning and subsequently found photos depicting sexual activity on her camera, according to the probable cause statement.
Hooper was "administratively separated" from the military and is now a civilian, according to Marine Corps spokesman Sgt. Damian McGee.
