9 people from Minnesota were arrested Wednesday after laying down on the sidewalk in front of the White House in a protest the group called a "die-in."
FBI whistleblower and activist Colleen Rowley was one of the protesters at the White House on Wednesday who started their demonstration by reading the names of Minnesotans killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
After the names were read, the protesters threw pairs of shoes, which were decorated with antiwar messages and had the White House address and President Barack Obama's name written on the soles. Rowley said the group planned to actually mail the shoes to the president, at a cost of roughly $2 in postage.
The arrested protesters were taken away in plastic handcuffs for refusing to obey a police order to leave the sidewalk.
