The Hurricane Relief camp is currently stationed in Theodore, Alabama. Cops have come by to warn us that this is a "bad neighborhood" and we should be careful. "Park the cars as close to the house as possible." We have invited the neighbors to BBQ, put tarps on their leaky roofs and welcomed them into our homes. We have cut dangerous branches from their trees and played ball with their children. We have cleaned the houses in which we are staying and fixed the dripping pipes. When we first arrived in Theodore, our cars became stuck in the mud caused by Hurricane Rita. Within five minutes, a neighbor came by with a pickup truck and a chain to pull us out. The local police can say what they will about Theodore, but we love it here and we love our new neighbors.
