Tell Your Story!

In HERE COMES TROUBLE I tell 24 true stories about my life and how I became who I am today. (If you haven't had a chance to get it yet, the chapter "Tet" is available free online, as is an excerpt from the first chapter published by the Guardian.)
But here's the thing: everybody has stories like these to tell. It's just that most of us never get the chance. That's why, now that my stories have appeared, I want to create a collection of the stories by the readers of HERE COMES TROUBLE.
I'll choose 24 reader-submitted stories for this collection, and find a publisher to put it out in 2012. Interested? Here's what you need to know:
- Read HERE COMES TROUBLE for a sense of what I'm looking for. Stories can be sad, funny, shocking, political, or all of the above. But what's most important is that they're important to you.
- Submitted stories must be true. Winners will be asked to provide factual backup.
- Submitted stories should be under 3,000 words long.
- The deadline to submit is midnight EST on December 31, 2011. Winners will be notified in spring, 2012.
- Stories must not have appeared in professional publications before. In other words — on your blog, okay; in Parade Magazine, not okay.
- All royalties will be split equally among the 24 authors. The book may appear in an electronic edition, in softcover, in hardcover or other editions, depending on the publisher's decision.
- Just one story submission per person.

Living Room Tour
Want Michael Moore to bring his book tour for HERE COMES TROUBLE to your living room to read to and talk with your family and friends? In the past Mike has visited bookstores, college halls and 12,000-seat hockey arenas. Now he wants to come to your house! One or more winners will be drawn at random on October 1, 2011, with possible further drawings at future dates.
The winner(s) will be notified within a week of the drawing. If you're chosen, we'll work with you to set up a date. Whether you want to invite your conservative brother-in-law, and whether you let him know who's going to be there ahead of time, is up to you.
